Rental terms and conditions
Rental Agreement
By renting a vehicle from Mexigo Rentals, you agree to these Terms of Service. These terms constitute a binding agreement between you (“the Renter”) and Mexigo Rentals (“we”, “us”).
You must be at least 18 years old to rent any vehicle. For scooter rentals, a valid driver’s license or ID is required.
Booking & Payment
Advance Payment: A 15% advance payment is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation. The remaining 85% is due at pickup.
Accepted Payment Methods:
- Cash (MXN, USD, EUR, GBP)
- Credit/debit cards
- Stripe payment links
Foreign currency payments include a small exchange buffer of 500 MXN on deposits.
Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit is required for all rentals:
- Scooters (Vitalia, D-150): 4,000 MXN
- Mountain Bikes: 4,000 MXN
- E-Bikes: 3,000 MXN
- Cruiser Bikes: 2,000 MXN
The deposit can be paid via cash, card hold, or Stripe link. It is fully refundable upon return of the vehicle in its original condition.
Insurance & Liability
Insurance is included in the rental price. The security deposit acts as your excess (deductible).
- Minor damage: You pay only the actual repair cost (up to the deposit amount)
- Major damage exceeding deposit: You pay only the deposit amount — insurance covers the rest
- No damage: Full deposit returned
The deposit ensures accountability and prevents deliberate damage or neglect.
Vehicle Use & Responsibilities
As the Renter, you agree to:
- Use the vehicle responsibly and in accordance with local traffic laws
- Wear a helmet at all times when riding scooters or bikes
- Not lock vehicles to trees or other natural objects
- Return the vehicle in the same condition as received
- Report any accidents or damage immediately via WhatsApp
- Not allow unauthorized persons to operate the vehicle
A condition video is taken at pickup to document the vehicle’s state.
Fuel Policy (Scooters)
For scooter rentals, you have two options:
- Full-to-full: Receive the scooter with a full tank and return it full
- Fuel fee: Pay a 200 MXN fuel fee and return the scooter empty
Returns & Late Fees
Vehicles must be returned to the same location where they were picked up, during business hours (8:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
Late returns: A 15-minute grace period is provided. After the grace period, an additional full day will be charged at the applicable daily rate.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the rental start time will receive a full refund of the advance payment. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the rental start time are non-refundable.
No-shows will forfeit the advance payment.
Limitation of Liability
Mexigo Rentals is not liable for any personal injury, loss of belongings, or indirect damages arising from the use of our vehicles. Renters assume full responsibility for their safety while operating the vehicle.
Our breakdown assistance service is available daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM via WhatsApp.
Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Mexico, specifically the State of Quintana Roo. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tulum, Quintana Roo.
